Simply click on the block, and then click on the "go to auction" button, and you'll be taken to an auction screen where you and the other players are bidding on the property. You'll do well to make most of your commercial building multi-story, since it ususally means they'll bring in more money.Īnother way to gain control of property is to take a block to auction, if you don't already own it. You also can pick to make the building from one to six stories, as well. The game offers you 18 different styles to choose from for most buildings. But you'll also get to choose the style of building it will be, changing its looks. When you construct a building, you'll not only get to choose where on the block to put it (you do that just like you do in Sim City, by dragging your mouse over a certain area to pick a spot for the building). It's the retail buildings - book stores, bakeries, restaurants and the like, that will bring more money into your coffers.īuilding is one of the neat features in the game.
The easiest way to do that is to build up undeveloped land, by either building residential buildings, such as apartments and the like, or by constructing retail edifices. Your aim is to become the landlord of as much of the city as you can. The 1940s offers swing-type music, while the '50s and '60s sound more like rock n' roll. Your background music will change as you progress through the years, too. The big difference this time around though, is that the game moves through time periods, from the 1930s to present day. The object of the game remains the same, though: Build a monopoly over the game board by buying up as much property as you can, while driving your opponents out of business.ĭeveloped by Deep Red Games, the new Monopoly Tycoon offers excellent graphics of the city as you move around the board.
Of course, now the shoe and board are virtual, and Marvin Gardens and Boardwalk are in glorious 3D on your PC screen.
That's right, you and up to six players will be able to duke it out over Marvin Gardens, Boardwalk, Park Place, and Reading Railroad, all while moving your shoe or race car around the board. Infogrames latest game that's getting ready to hit the store shelves is Monopoly Tycoon, a hybrid of the original Monopoly game, and Sim City. For those of you that are Sim City fans, and for those of you that still play the board game Monopoly, we have some good news for you.
